CalFresh and Basic Needs Communications Coordinator

Hello! My name is Daisy and I am from Santa Maria, a small city in Northern Santa Barbara County. I graduated from CSU Northridge in 2015 and where I studied Sociology. I joined UCSB in March of 2022 as the Calfresh and Basic Needs Communications Coordinator. I oversee the Calfresh Advocate and Basic Needs Peer Advisors that run the Food Security and Basic Needs Advising Center and manage the Basic Needs Communications Team to bring awareness to food, housing, and other basic needs resources that are available to all students. Prior to working at UCSB, I developed a network over the course of 6 years in the nonprofit sector where I was able to provide resources to farmworkers, high school students, college students, older adults, children with disabilities, parents, and many other populations. I look forward to prospering the amazing work Thrive: Basic Needs has done for students to bring awareness to the wide range of basic needs resources that students can utilize.
