About

The Foodbank of Santa Barbara County is working to increase food security and improve the nutritional health of our county. The Foodbank distributes 9.7 million pounds of food throughout the year, to more than 300 non-profit partners and programs countywide. One of the main goals of the Foodbank is to build food literacy: the ability to look after oneself with food – to budget, shop cook and use food responsibly. They believe that we can make a huge transformation in the health of SB County through use of food, education and empowerment.

While the Foodbank serves as the storehouse for the food itself, food pantries are responsible for connecting with the community and distributing the food to those in need. See below for a list of SB County food resources available to the public.

Food Bank vs. Food Pantry

A food bank collects and stores food items and other products that go out to the community. A food pantry functions as the arms that reach out to that community directly, distributing the food to those in need.
