Description
The Food Security and Basic Needs Communications Team is looking for a graphic designer for a variety of promotional materials related to raising awareness of resources to address food and housing insecurity, and other basic needs. The selected student must know adobe in-design, illustrator, or photoshop. We have several students already on our team that can do all the basics in canva. For this position, we want someone to develop the more complicated graphic design pieces that require skills above and beyond canva. Projects may include doing large banners and sandwich board designs, logos, annual report designs, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Create original artwork likely to include, but not limited to:
* Logos
* Large, high resolution banners and posters
* Maps like this
garden map
* Layouts and graphics for annual reports and other documents, in
formats such as this.
* Layouts and graphics for
brochures like this one
Minimum Requirements:
* Awareness of basic needs issues
* Creative ideas on how to design promotional materials for sensitive topics (for example: resources for students without safe and stable housing or who regularly experience hunger and food insecurity)
* Experience developed graphic design pieces in in-design, illustrator, or photoshop.
* Demonstrated skills as seen through a portfolio or examples of completed original work.
* Will be a current UCSB student through at least June 2022 and not studying abroad in the coming year.
* Willing and able to be present for weekly in person meetings
Preferred Requirements:
* Experience with graphic design of documents and reports
